Bayside Melbourne NAIDOC Week - Learn about Indigenous Ingredients
In light of next week being NAIDOC Week from the 8th-15th 2020 Bayside City Council will be hosting and sharing some great resources and workshops to help you extend your learning of Bayside’s rich Indigenous history.
What is NAIDOC week?...You may be wondering...
Well, it's a celebration of culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by many Australians right across the country!
Bayside city council has a few activities planned this year and you can check them out here.
For our community of healthy bayside foodies we wanted to highlight our pick to check out:
Mabu Mabu - Discover Indigenous Ingredients online workshop
Cost: $0 - But must reserve your ticket in advance of the session
Time: Nov 13, 2020 03:00 PM Australia/Melbourne
What will I learn?
Bayside City Council join Meriam chef, Nornie Bero of Mabu Mabu, as they share their love of Australian Indigenous foods and flavours.
Chef Meriam will talk through some of her favourite Indigenous ingredients and will show participants how they can incorporate these Australian native fruits, herbs, spices and flavours into their own home-cooking at home.
This is a great way to learn about new local Australian ingredients used by local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
